Iron Giant: FFIII DS
I fought him for the first time a few days ago and he absolutely mopped the floor with me. Considering how fast he decimated my party, I quickly realized that my level average of 72 probably wasn't sufficient to take him down. I turned to gamefaq to check what the recommended level to fight it was, only to find that there is virtually no information on the optional uber boss beyond his HP and vague attack pattern.
So my question: has anyone here actually beaten Iron Giant and if so, what level were you when you beat him? |

I'm guessing since you have Wi-Fi access, you have the Onion Knight job, correct?
Either you could use the Kum Kum leveling trick until you're level 90 or so for all characters, then switch to the Onion Knight class to really pump up your stats. The dragons in the cave the Iron Giant is located in drop Onion Equipment, but it's hell to get all sets for each character. ;-; Or you can just go around and level until you're level 90. The job's stats really kick in when you're level 90 and above. Taken from Gamefaqs's Onion Knight guide: Quote:

Yeah, I've seen a few vidoes of people fighting Iron Giant with FEOKs. It's looks like the general stratagy is to deck them out with two shields and blast away at him with magic since he has fairly high resistance to physical attacks. It seems simple enough, but before I go the extra mile to level my characters to ludicrous heights I thought I would check to see if there are strategies that involve lower-leveled parties to save myself some effort.

It's doubtful, since he's stronger than DC, and she's the final boss. o_O
I'll surf around to try and find one, but you'll get really lucky to find a low level run against the Iron Giant.

Go to Gamespot, you should find a boss guide and a strategy there.

Re: Iron Giant: FFIII DS
I saw a vid with a party (average level was 72) of two Bards, one White Mage and, umm... >< the party class that allows you to use 'Provoke.'
Basic strategy was to raise everyones defence with Protect/turtle shells, Haste the White Wizard (and everyone else using the Bards) and then blast away with harps while the 'Provoker' keeps the damage focused on him. After a while the Iron Giant will begin using an attack that hits all of your party members for big damage - the person then began chucking Chocobo's Wrath at the poor Giant...who quickly fell. Great battle.

Re: Iron Giant: FFIII DS
Another thing you might want to buy from the Bazaar is the ' Nihopalaoa , which reverses effects of items, such as potions. Niho + Phoenix Down = Instant Death, on any ally, but that also includes enemies. It won't work on bosses or marks, though, but Remedy works just as well if you filled up a lot of the Remedy skills on the License board, you can inflict all sorts of negative conditions on bosses. There are probably other places where you can make lots of money, but after getting Lente's Tear, this is one of the best.

Re: Iron Giant: FFIII DS
I just used 3 onion knights and a summoner and used bahamut and the flare spells and he goes down fairly quickly before he gets to use swipe often.
I've seen a video where someone was using a party where the viking was buffed with defensive spells and was having all the attacks directed at him while the rest of the party wailed on the giant.
