in the classic ff games(1,3,4,and 5 respectively), elemental crystals were a big plot device. (not to mention shiny!
 ) after 5, the stories became more about technology...when they made ff9, they wanted it to be a tribute of sorts to the classic ff games.(what with all the in game references.zidane:i used to know a guy with spiky hair who had a sword like this...  ) so, they put a crystal in it.bleh, sorry for the long winded explanation. hopefully that explained it. |
