^^First some names:

Arda: the whole earth, not including Valinor, the Immortal Lands (which doesn't exists anymore inside Arda as a continent, after the destruction of Numenor).

Eä: the universe. All.

Endor: The common Elven name for Middle-Earth,

and now, simply, Middle-Earth is the central continent.
Before the destruction of Numenor, when Arda was a flat world: In the west, you had the Immortal Lands, in the center, you had the Mortal Lands (so yes, both the Northern Wastelands and the Southern Barbarian nations are part of Middle-Earth ^^), and in the west you had the Dark Lands (where no Gods or Children live).

After the destruction of Numenor, the Immortal Lands vanished from Arda, existing in another sphere, and Arda was no longer flat, but became a globe.

There is some (well, quite obvious) confusion what exactly Middle-Earth is, since in both The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings the events only occur in a certain corner of the world. But that corner is not Middle-Earth, it's simply The North-Western Regions of Middle-Earth.

Re: Favorite "Lord of the Rings".

I read the books, and despite the films leaving out a lot of things (songs, certain scenes and characters) I can only think of the trilogy as one whole story. But if I had to choose between the three, I would have to say Return of the King; especially the extended version.

I cried near the end. A lot @_@

It IS tear-jerking, yes. Dang, especially the moment where Gandalf says it originally from the book:

"I will not say, do not weap, for not all tears are an evil."

Re: Favorite "Lord of the Rings".

I agree with Avathar but my fav of the movies is the Return of the King I love the battle scene at the black Gate and the scene when Aragorn gets his sword back
